MIND VS BODY
The chapter tells about the body movements that become involuntary or automatic over time and sometimes, when the mind faces a sudden new problem, it fails to mobilize the body to steer out to safety.
"Repetition of the same thought or physical action develops into a habit which, repeated frequently enough, becomes an automatic reflex."
-- Norman Vincent Peale
"The cautious seldom err." -- Confucius
Driving: A Psycho-motor Skill
01. Self-made accidents are primarily caused by mal-adjustment between body and mind.
02. The motor skills are directed by mind; mind mobilizes the body.
03. Legs and limbs work in sync.
04. Healthy physical condition is prerequisite for effective motor movements.
05. Patient driving is the most ideal and safest driving art.
06. Physical impulses are mostly instinctive and immediate and they occur only in the subconsciou state. Control your harmful impulses by your conscious mind.
Points to remember:
01. Repeated physical activities lead to motor automation.
02. Habituated body movements do not require directions from the brain.
03. Some habitual movements are due to programing by the brain and they work on their own.
04. The fluctuating mind interferes into the functioning of the brain, causing it to act strangely that disturbs the automation process.
05. It is essential to contain our consciousness to only the chauffeur's mind.
06. There are certain unwarranted situations when the driver experiences an eclipse of the consciousness. For a moment he is confused about the pedals. His legs fail to recognize the clutch-gear-brake pattern. While accidents in such situations are inevitable.
07. The vehicle is moving and you are seated.
And there exists a gap between the two. Mind this gap, for accidents tend to sneak into it.
08. Driving is an informal physical activity. There is no such thing as formal driving, or the driver's formal conditioning of the body. Let not your body be conditioned by any formal standards.
09. Casual driving is dangerous. Drive like a pro or don't drive at all.
10. Don't drive under stress. The stressful mind fails to coordinate with the body, due to its squeezed observation.
11. Absentmindedness is as dangerous as the stressful mind.
